Thirteenth Week: A Week with Typhoon Krisitne

This week didn’t go as expected, thanks to Typhoon Kristine, but it turned out to be one of the most memorable weeks ever. With classes on hold because of the storm, my friends and I decided to make the best of it by staying at a friend’s apartment. Without alarms ringing and no schoolwork to worry about, we had the perfect chance to relax and just enjoy each other’s company.

We spent the day watching movies, wrapping ourselves in blankets, and listening to the sound of the rain outside. Even though the power and water went out a few times, it didn’t bother us at all. In fact, it made everything feel more cozy and peaceful. We decided to cook some comforting food—pansit and champorado. The smell filled the apartment, and we had so much fun tasting the food, adding little things here and there until it was perfect. It wasn’t just about the food, though—it was the laughter, the shared moments, and the feeling of being together in a quiet world.

We even ventured outside for a bit, letting the cool rain wash over us as we walked down the empty streets. It felt like the world had paused, just for us. The storm may have canceled our plans, but it gave us something better—memories as warm as the champorado, as soft as the rain, and as sweet as the laughter we shared. In the weekend, we still managed to travel from City to Baleno because of the urge wanting to relax and see her. It was a week I’ll never forget, reminding me that sometimes the best moments are the ones we least expect.
